How will passengers be compensated for late or canceled flights?
“Long delayed flight” is a flight whose actual departure time (from the time of withdrawal) is 4 hours or more later than the scheduled departure time according to the base flight schedule. “Cancelled flight” means a flight that is not made on the basis of the airline's cancellation schedule.
According to Article 8 of Circular 14/2015 of the Ministry of Transport as amended by Circular 27/2017, the compensation level for non-refundable advance is:
1. Compensation for each passenger for domestic flights is as follows:
a) Flights with a route length of less than 500 km: 200,000 VND;
b) Flights with route length from 500 km to less than 1,000 km: 300,000 VND;
c) Flights with a route length of 1,000 km or more: VND 400,000.
2. Compensation for each passenger for international flights is as follows:
a) Flights with a route length of less than 1,000 km: 25 USD;
b) Flights with route length from 1,000 km to less than 2,500 km: 50 USD;
c) Flights with route length from 2,500 km to under 5,000 km: 80 USD;
d) Flights with a route length of 5,000 km or more: 150 USD.
3. The carrier may stipulate the level of compensation for non-refundable advance but must not be lower than the level specified in Clauses 1 and 2 of this Article.
In case a flight is delayed for a long time and then canceled, the non-refundable advance compensation is only applied once
